Writing Bodies Evening program

An experimental evening at the MERIAN art-science lab about engaging the body in writing

Wednesday 27 May
Location: MERIAN art-science lab, Heksenstraat 8
Time: walk-in 18.45; start 19.00; end 21.00 hrs. Drinks and light snacks will be served.

Organised in the context of the Writing Bodies Schrijfdriedaagse, this event welcomes Schrijfdriedaagse participants and all others interested in writing to join us for an experimental evening in the MERIAN art-science lab. During this evening, we present books, artworks, performances and writing exercises that engage the body. How can we more fully consider the physicality of writing and reading within the writing process? How can we cultivate an embodied writing practice, and how might such a practice offer to artistic research? What are ways to calibrate the writing body? What can the page (of a book, artwork, or PhD dissertation) become? Guided by these and other questions, the evening presents the work of various artist-researchers who explore writing bodies in different ways.

With presentations by: Nirav Christoph & Marjolijn van den Berg (Lectoraat Grensverleggende Artistieke Praktijken / Expanding Artistic Practices, HKU); choreographer, performer and designer Pablo Fontdevila, and artists connected to MERIAN

This MERIAN evening program is an extension of “Writing Bodies Schrijfdriedaagse,” organised by lectoraat What Art Knows .
